Writing is an enjoyable endeavor. The flow of words on a page offers a tremendous creative outlet, producing a connection between writer and reader. Stories are some of the oldest and most conserved forms of human conversation and history. Yet narrative writing is not common amongst physicians and scientists. Years of training in medical schools and academic institutions have conditioned us to favor academic publishing in peer reviewed journals. These are excellent avenues for scientific discourse and research, but the rigid structure limits creative expression, and access is often confined to those within that niche field or with a subscription.

I believe narrative writing is not only enjoyable but also very powerful. Regardless of the topic, it offers insight and perspective from an angle one may not have considered. Real life doesn’t exist in black and white, control vs. subject. Our lives course through a vibrant spectrum, colored by opinion and lived experience.

I’d like to share my passion for writing as a creative outlet with you.
